Leeches 02:05
Got too many leeches crawlin on my shoes Got too many leeches crawlin on my shoes Got so many leeches that I don't know what to do Get em off, just get em off Got too many leeches hangin on my clothes Got too many leeches hangin on my clothes Got so many leeches that I don't know where to go Get em off, just get em off Where's the salt? Where's the matches? I'm gonna burn these bastards down to ashes Get em off, just get em off Got too many leeches suckin on my skin Got too many leeches suckin on my skin Got so many leeches that I don't know where to begin Get em off, just get em off Get em off, just get em off Get em off

Well, the prayer wheels were turning at the temple The smell of incense was heavy in the air And the monks were all chanting a tune that felt so familiar And when I close my eyes and sing it, it takes me back there And they sang Om mani padme hum Om mani padme hum Om mani padme hum Up at the temple, they gave me a song Well I wondered aloud if I'd like living at the temple I wondered if there were some answers that I might find Wondered if all of this thinking might somehow be harmful But if nothing is permanent, then neither's my mind So I sang Om mani padme hum Om mani padme hum Om mani padme hum Down at the temple, they gave me a song My credit's no good but my karma ain't bad I'm a buffalo roaming the hills And all this soul searching might come to an end If I could just keep my mind still Om mani padme hum Om mani padme hum Om mani padme hum The jewel in the lotus gave me a song So we sang Om mani padme hum Om mani padme hum Om mani padme hum Up at the temple, they gave me song

Those Eyes 04:06
Brought some goods up to Mustang to trade Tibetan wool and a drum to play Always following the middle way And always followed by the Buddha's gaze Circumstances led me back to the plains I found Lumbini underwater with rain But no god would let that city drown With those eyes following me around Those eyes follow me around Straight up to heaven from the lonely ground They watch in silence as I float on down Those eyes follow me around And as I'm walking through the gates of Lo Or wandering comfortably on this plateau Those eyes are watching me wherever I go From Kathmandu on down to Ohio With these two ears I'll listen to the trees And with this mouth I'll finally learn to breathe With this guitar I'll move the speed of sound With those eyes following me around Those eyes follow me around Straight up to heaven from the lonely ground They watch in silence as I float on down Those eyes follow me around

Modern day religions They make no sense to me They lock you in their prisons And tell you that you're free And I'd become so vain again, vain again, I could Not hear myself think I'd walk out in the rain again, rain again Just to get myself a drink But then the enlightened one showed me No matter what you believe When you're on top of the world, baby It's a miracle just to breathe I was a man of silence I was a man of dreams But only men of violence Had the loudest screams I found myself alone again, alone again, wondering Just where did I go wrong? Could someone point me home again, home again Or was I too far gone? But then the enlightened one showed me No matter what you believe When you're on top of the world, baby It's a miracle just to breathe

about

'Annapurna' was written while trekking through the Annapurna mountain range of Nepal during July-August 2011. The journey was full of inspiring landscapes, the warmest and most welcoming people I've ever encountered, breathtaking mountains, and rain. Lots of rain. This album has been made to celebrate that experience.
